About Us
Authentic Greek recipes prepared daily
Our kitchen follows traditional Greek cooking methods passed down through generations. Each dish starts with quality ingredients and proper technique. The moussaka gets layered carefully, the avgolemono soup whisked to the right consistency, and the lamb chops grilled over high heat. Our chef prepares everything from spanakopita to grilled octopus using the same recipes Mary Pappas brought from Greece in 1972. Nothing gets rushed, nothing gets adapted for convenience. Just authentic Greek food done the right way.

A gathering place for over 50 years
Greek dining isn't rushed. Meals last as long as they should, conversation flows naturally, and guests feel comfortable staying. This approach has shaped Athens Market Taverna since day one. The restaurant moved to its current location in the Senator Hotel in 1986, creating a warm space where regulars and newcomers alike feel welcome. The dining rooms maintain their classic Victorian character with crystal chandeliers and mahogany details. Whether you're here for a quiet dinner or celebrating with a large group, the atmosphere encourages you to relax and enjoy your meal.
